(System Management Mode) режим управления системой, режим SMMодин из четырёх режимов работы процессора Pentium, появившийся впервые в процессорах Intel 80386 SL. Он обеспечивает ОС и приложения независимым и прозрачным механизмом управления энергопотреблением, а также возможностью дифференциации ОЕМ-производителей. SMM активируется посредством внешнего прерывания, подаваемого на ножку SMI\# процессора, которое переключает ЦП на отдельное адресное пространство (address space), сохраняя при этом весь текущий контекст ЦП. Затем прозрачно может быть исполнена специфичная для этого режима программа (SMM-specific code).
